As an affiliate marketer, conversions are how you get paid, so the primary focus of your strategy is to drive traffic to your site. Here are some techniques to target website traffic that brings you actual conversions.

Email marketing always requires building a list first, which is best built by offering something free, (industry stats, a guide, a white paper, a webinar) and then using a form to capture email addresses. Be careful to only reach out to your list with your most relevant, impressive and exclusive information, or watch your unsubscribe rates multiply. Affiliate links are best used as part of the body text of the email. Promoting affiliate products directly in the email is okay, as long as there is more valuable and useful content than there is “sales.” The best way to handle this is by segmenting your emails so the appropriate affiliate links go to the right audience. Sometimes the best way to get eyes is to show, not tell. Video is the best way to illustrate concepts that are complicated to explain.
